K Period Media is a production company committed to developing, financing, and producing quality films and content for a variety of platforms. Founded by Kimberly Steward in 2013, the company is dedicated to finding and making socially-relevant, story-driven projects with mainstream appeal.
To date, its films include the award-winning 2014 documentary THROUGH A LENS DARKLY: BLACK PHOTOGRAPHERS AND THE EMERGENCE OF A PEOPLE and the acclaimed 2016 feature MANCHESTER BY THE SEA, which has been nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
Kimberly Steward is an entrepreneur, philanthropist and producer. In 2013 she formed K Period Media, a company that develops, finances and produces story-driven, commercially viable and thought-provoking content spanning media from film and television to digital and interactive platforms. In just a few years, Steward has forged strategic relationships with some of the most prolific producers, distributors and financiers in the entertainment industry. It is Steward’s mission to discover diverse new voices and launch the careers of next generation talent on both sides of the camera.
In 2017, K Period Media’s film Manchester by the Sea was nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Picture, making Kimberly only the second black woman to have her film nominated for this award.
As a philanthropist, Steward extends her impact beyond making poignant films. She is hands-on in her support of charities such as The Elizabeth Taylor Foundation, Fresh Air Fund, and Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Foundation. A patron of the arts, Steward also gives to AFI, LACMA, New York City Ballet, and the Geffen Playhouse.
Josh Godfrey (Executive) has a lifelong passion for film and theater. He currently heads up development at K Period Media, where he served as Executive Producer on the critically-acclaimed and award-winning film, Manchester by the Sea and is overseeing a slate of upcoming projects.
Josh has an extensive background in the film industry, working for award-winning companies such as Mandeville Films as well as talent-driven production companies with studio and network deals. He has also worked with big-budget film directors in various stages of production.
Andy Sorgie is the creative executive at K Period Media, the financiers/producers behind Manchester by the Sea, which originally premiered at Sundance. K Period Media is currently in production on their third feature, The True Adventures of Wolfboy (d. by Martin Krejci), while simultaneously in post on their second, Suspiria (d. by Luca Guadagnino), which they co-financed alongside Amazon.
Previously, Andy rose through the ranks from intern to creative executive at Mandeville Films where he helped develop the 2017 releases of the David Gordon Green directed Stronger (starring Jake Gyllenhaal & Tatiana Maslany) and the Stephen Chbosky directed Wonder (starring Jacob Tremblay & Julia Roberts).
